Recreation of 18th C. Persian Carpet A-44

A beautiful recreation of a 18th C. Persian Carpet using hand carded and hand spun wool hand dyed using natural dyes.  Exactly the way all handmade antique carpets were woven.

At one time I imported natural dyed rugs from this workshop in Afghanistan. I first met the owner in the 80s when he was experimenting making rugs using natural dyes like all rugs before the advent of synthetic dyes in 1900.  I convinced him to use designs of antique Persian carpets and when he did these became very successful.  He went full in and started also using hand carded and hand spun wool like all pre 1900 rugs and getting the wool from northern Afghanistan which, due to the cold climate, is the world’s best for rugs.  Just about all his small production goes to Europe however I contacted my old friend and he sent me some photos of what is currently available.  The beauty of natural dye rugs is undeniable.

I purchased a few rugs which should arrive here at the end of March.  If you would like to reserve one of these contact me.  Payment upon delivery.
