A beautiful rug from the NW region of old Persia. The design is one I have not seen before and it’s awesome. The size is 4.2 x 6.9 and is in excellent condition with medium pile and no stains, repairs, or issues. The knotting is small and tight and the wool from that region is the best in Iran, and has old vegetable dyes which had aged to a wonderful patina. These primitive rugs are difficult to find, especially in really good condition. These are the essence of rug weaving, how rugs were made from the earliest times, woven by the owner from wool from their own sheep, dyeing the wool in small pots, warping their own small wooden looms and creating the pattern as she goes using designs and colors traditional to that village or tribe. No drawing or photo is used, all from the weaver’s memory along with designs familiar to the weaver including people and small animals are often incorporated. Finally selling the rug for income for her family or using the rug in her home. This rug recently came out of Iran where it was used and cherished for a century, and now you can be the custodian of it to be enjoyed and passed down to the next generation. I love these primitive weavings and after 46 years of selling beautiful rugs these are my favorite. My wholesale price is $750 with a retail of 1.5K V-225
