This rug was made in the early 1930s in one of the Qashqai villages by a semi-nomadic people around the mountains of Qashqai. The wool is from this rug would have come from their own sheep, it has old vegetable dyes and is in excellent condition with no stains, repairs, or other issues. The actual size is 5.3 x 10. The women who wove this rug used a ground loom and create the design from memory using traditional colors and design elements of that tribe. The design is not woven from a pattern like most rugs but knotted free hand, it was created as she wove and the designs are slightly different from side to side and end to end. They do express themselves individually by incorporating small designs like flowers, animals, people, and other items that they like and are familiar with so no two rugs are the same. These are original works of art from the distant past to be cherished in a home for generations to come. $820 Q-504
