A beautiful Persian Karajeh from NW Iran, north of Heriz near the Russian border. I really like Karajeh rugs and this is exceptional, both in the fineness of the knotting, design, and drop-dead colors. Circa 1920-1940, the natural dye colors have aged and muted to a wonderful patina and has Abrash which shows that the wool was dyed in small batches. The foundation is wool from the weaver’s own sheep. This and the very fine knotting all point to the early age and primitive nature of the rug. The bold motif will be a great addition to any room. The size is 6.7 x 12.6 and has an even medium pile (kork wool) and no issues. Ready for another 100 years to be passed down as a family heirloom. $995 Retail 2.5-3K Ka-491
