A Qashqai nomad rug Circ. 1930 in excellent condition with no repairs, damage or issues. Very small knotting only found in these antique pieces. The size is 4.8 x 7.10 and uses natural dyes in the wool pile from the sheep of the family who knotted the rug. The weaver used the Persian Bothae design and inserted other items she was familiar with in the carpet while using the colors of her tribe. This was woven with the weaver creating the design as she went so it doesn’t match from side to side. A true sign of a nomadic or primitive weave and much sought after by rug connoisseurs and collectors. It spent its life in the remote outback of Fars Providence and now ready to provide beauty to your home. You will be buying a piece of art and of history of a time long past.
The Qashqai people live around southern Isfahan, and especially around the cities of Shiraz and Firuzabad in Fars. The majority of Qashqai people were originally nomadic pastoralists, and some remain so today. The traditional nomadic Qashqai travelled with their flocks twice yearly to and from the summer highland pastures north of Shiraz roughly 300 miles south to the winter pastures on lower (and warmer) lands near the Persian Gulf, to the southwest of Shiraz. The majority, however, have now become partially or wholly sedentary but when this rug was woven, they were nomadic.
The beauty of Persian carpets is timeless and never goes out of fashion. This will be enjoyed for generations to come. Persian Carpets are the original that others copy and are appreciated and valued worldwide.
