A beautiful Caucasian carpet from the Karabagh region of Russia. Circa 1900, the size is 3.8 x 10.5 with medium pile on a wool foundation. It is excellent condition with no holes, repairs, stains, or other issues. The natural dyes have aged to a beautiful patina. This shows all the wonderful design elements of the early Karabagh rugs with random placement of small whimsical animals and designs. The weaver created the design as she knotted the rug, so nothing is symmetrical which makes for the absolute beauty of these weavings. Latter rugs were woven for commercial production and used established patterns to go by thus losing all their charm and appeal. My wholesale price is $1250. V-251
