A Qashqai nomad rug Circ. 1930s in excellent antique condition with no repairs, stains, or issues.  It has very small knotting only found in these antique pieces. The size is 5.2 x 7.9 and uses natural dyes and all-wool construction from the sheep of the family who knotted the rug.  The weaver incorporated many camels, horses, and other items she was familiar with in the carpet while using the main design and colors of her tribe.  This is a beautiful example of tribal or primitive weaving with antique natural dye colors and a terrific design. The Qashqai people live around southern Isfahan, and especially around the cities of Shiraz and Firuzabad in Fars. The majority of Qashqai people were originally nomadic pastoralists, and some remain so today. The traditional nomadic Qashqai travelled with their flocks twice yearly to and from the summer highland pastures north of Shiraz roughly 300 miles south to the winter pastures on lower (and warmer) lands near the Persian Gulf, to the southwest of Shiraz. The majority, however, have now become partially or wholly sedentary but when this rug was woven, they were nomadic.
