A beautiful antique Persian Malayer in 4.6 x 10.9 size and in excellent condition with medium pile and fine knotting with no stains, repairs, or issues.  Circa 1930-1940.  Malayer has a long history of rug weaving. In the 19th and 20th centuries, production in Malayer and the surrounding smaller villages was almost exclusively limited to small sized rugs and runners woven by individual weavers. Very few families in the larger villages undertook the weaving of larger rugs.  This was found in Iran and imported here in 2016.

Malayer Rugs are made of exceptional quality and tough wool, they are often knotted using what is called as a Persian knot. The thickness of the luxurious pile allows these rugs to withstand the highest levels of foot traffic and still hold its style. This type of durability is what has made them so popular over the years. They are also very traditional in design; this has the all-over Mir design which is very traditional in Malayer weavings.  My wholesale price is $395 M-269
